built in 1884 and welcoming gentlefolk on horse and by carriage from then to now

At Champney’s Restaurant & Tavern we offer local food and drink offering an authentic atmosphere that includes a relaxing gathering space with comfy chairs, fireplaces, an eighteen seat mahogany bar, 12 local drafts, many wines by the glass, and seasonally driven menu featuring many local farms. There are three event spaces for an ideal wedding, family reunion, holiday gathering, or any other party that you might have in mind. In the warmer months we have seating on the front porch, to make the perfect and relaxing afternoon.

Also discover our historic Deerfield, MA hotel where Champney’s is located, on this tree-lined, mile long Old Main Street, adorned by gorgeous homes from the 18th and 19th-century, two schools, and three working farms. This most rural part of Massachusetts is the heart of colonial America, and seems to have risen from the surrounding landscape of cornfields, rivers, and hills giving it a true sense of place. As a part of Historic Deerfield museum, the Deerfield Inn and Champney’s Restaurant & Tavern are part of one of the best documented small towns in America, and we can look out from the front porch of our inn and point out to you the reasons why when you join us for a meal or stay for peaceful respite.
